NV Taittinger Brut La Française Champagne

“Cleansing and toasty...”

NV Taittinger Brut La Française Champagne

Taittinger’s Brut is a cuvée of 40 percent Chardonnay, 35 percent Pinot Noir, and 25 percent Meunier. The fruit was harvested from 35 crus, and the blend was cellared for four years en tirage to build creaminess and complexity.

It’s pale gold with a persistent, quiet perlage wreathed in toasty notes of ginger and white petals. The fine, buttery mousse feels cleansing but offers alluring hints of beeswax or honey. The finish is pointed, a wash of clean citrus.

Pair it with fish, poultry, canapés.

The big house NVs are so much better than they were 10 or 15 years ago. Thank you growers for pushing the grandes marques.

  2. This wine has its detractors, as promoting this review has (elsewhere) proved. But many desire a rich, toasty Champagne, which is not without merit. This wine pushes those buttons.
