Charles Heidsieck’s reserve rosé is 40 percent Pinot noir, 35 percent Chardonnay, and 25 percent Meunier. The cuvée is 20 percent reserve wine, and the rest was from harvest year 2013. This bottle was disgorged in 2019.
It’s a fey salmon pink with a spumy pour and a buzzy bead. The aromas mix biscuit, honey, almond, and brioche with berry fruits. The texture is animated, expansive and foamy, carrying flavors of cherries, strawberries, and roasted nut. The finish is coating, accented with cherry cordial and hazelnut. It’s opulent, generous, lavish, but also offers freshness amid the savoriness and luxury.
It’s a wine that can easily balance rosy meats; beef or pork tenderloin. Also perfect with salmon, poultry, savory pastries.
