NV Champagne Collet Brut Art Déco Champagne

Opulent, fruit-driven champagne

NV Champagne Collet Brut Art Déco Champagne

Collet’s Art Déco brut is a blend of 40 percent Chardonnay, 40 percent Pinot Noir, and 20 percent Meunier sourced from seven grand cru and 13 premier cru villages. The wine spent four years en tirge prior to disgorgement, and was finished with a dosage of 9 g/L of residual sugar.

It’s quietly sparkling, the foam of the pour subsiding quickly into a paucity of languorous, hesitant bubbles. But the aromatics are huge and sherried—amaretto, peaches, roasted almonds, cherrystone, marzipan-filled pastry, all top-noted by a burst of red plum fruit. The palate is richly elaborated, offering sensations of brioche and nut and almond extract. The wine blooms into a foamy, spumy, active mousse popping with berries, its red fruit sweeping out in a flourish of bitter almond.

Rich, opulent, and fruit-driven, it’s a wine that seems richer than its price.
