2014 Division Wine Company Chardonnay Un Willamette Valley
Elegant, savory; a mouthful of bitter herbs, melon, milk, and citrus. The wine has a spicy, gingery edge and twinkly acidity, as its initial blaze of tropical fruit (pineapple) fizzes into orchard fruits (pear and quince, shot with white pepper). The barrel fermentation—some new, some neutral—was long, slow, and cool, and the result is light-handed despite the full malolactic. Really delicious.
