Montinore farms organically and biodynamically. Fermentation for this wine is conducted in stainless steel with a mix of cultures, some inoculated. The wine ages in various vessels, some with and some without lees.
The result is moon yellow and fragrant of guava and passion fruit, sharp but also tropical. The palate delivers firm acidity, a counterpoint to profuse tropical fruits, particularly passion fruit but also mango and Meyer lemon. The finish is long, with a grassy bitterness that deepens the interest.
It’s a truly lovely wine for $20, great with fresh goat’s milk cheeses or with raw or lightly cooked light fish, shrimp, and shellfish.
