2013 Keller Estate Chardonnay Oro de Plata Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County

Keller Estate’s is located at the south end of the Petaluma Gap, just up from San Pablo Bay. The fruit for this Chardonnay was hand-picked, then whole-cluster pressed, and the  wine did not go through malolactic.

The result is a pale straw yellow color—befitting its name, “gold from silver.” Its scent is reminiscent of a day at the shore: warmth, herbs, lemon rind, slight brine. The body is light, not creamy or leesy but smooth and even-tempered. Flavors of musk melon, honeydew, and faint citrus are carried along on a waving sheet of satin.

This is a wine for fresh cheeses, light cream, eggs, chicken, chicken salad.
