2015 La Grange Tiphaine Nouveau Nez Montlouis-sur-Loire

2015 La Grange Tiphaine Nouveau Nez Montlouis-sur-Loire

Damien Delecheneau’s Montlouis-sur-Loire is fully dry, made from organic, young-vine Chenin. The wine is bottled before primary fermentation is complete to create the sparkle. It’s a lovely light amber color, and its active bead casts skeins of quiet, creamy bubbles on its surface. The aromas are fresh — mostly tree fruits, especially yellow apple, apricot, peaches, and pears — but with hints of baked apple and pastry. It’s sappy and succulent on the palate, crackly but with a shine of honeyed fruits, mandarin orange, and vanilla bean. It’s expansive, elegant, and delicious.
