2016 Gorghi Tondi Grillo Khierè Sicilia

Organically grown, native Sicilian white

2016 Gorghi Tondi Grillo Khierè Sicilia

A wine that mixes stone fruits and fresh herbs, lemons and peaches, sweetgrass and brine. It’s made from organically grown Grillo, a variety native to Sicily, and it’s a good expression of this grape, as Grillo can sometimes be syrupy and strident. The color is palest yellow with green glints, and the fragrance is minerally with a sense of salt hay, citrus peels, and orange blossom. The body is light-textured with an herbaceous bitterness decorating ripe citrus and yellow stone fruit, and the finish lingers long and salty. Pair this wine with fish, poultry, salads, or milky cheeses.
