2014 Quinta de la Rosa duoROSA Douro DOC

A typical Douro red blend of about equal parts Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz, fermented in stainless steel. Its fragrance is also textbook Touriga: fresh and dried herbs, tart cherry, black pepper. Its light-textured robe offers pearly tannins, and the shimmery acidity carries sharp red fruits and licorice. The herbs repeat here—piquant oregano, anise-like tarragon—and with a little air the flavors darken into blacker berries and brambles.

Lively, youthful, affordable, and good for weeknight suppers.
