2012 Michael Mondavi Family Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

“A big, smiling, ripe, and easygoing wine.”

2012 Michael Mondavi Family Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
The Cabernet (78 percent of the blend) derives from the estate’s Oso Vineyard supplemented by fruit from vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford, Wooden Valley; Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Petit Verdot round out the blend. It spent fifteen months in French oak, two-thirds new.

Inky ruby color. A plush fragrance of black currant, blueberries, and bitter blackberries mingles with caramel sweetness and a whiff of cypress. The wine’s oak provides frame for its splashy fruits, and the powdery tannins are a somewhat-relief. A big, smiling, ripe, and easygoing wine.
