NV Gruet Sauvage Rosé Méthode Traditionelle America

Breezy sparkling rosé, un-dosed

NV Gruet Sauvage Rosé Méthode Traditionelle America

A Champagne method wine with no dosage, made in New Mexico of Pinot Noir grown in—well, America, somewhere. I first tasted the un-dosed Gruet wines in Washington State this spring, where the winery sources some of its fruit from a large vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. But their wines are appellated simply America, stumping terroirists and lovers of provenance everywhere.

But to the wine at hand. It’s a pretty deep pink hue with an exuberant mousse brimming with bubbles. The fragrance is mostly about fresh berries and hay, while its crackly texture and frosty acidity carry abundant ripe fruits, making the wine seem sweet even with zero grams of residual sugar.

Good for brunch, picnics, receptions, and other events when you want a breezy, traditional method sparkler at a reasonable price.
