The robe is a limpid brick rose color with a flame orange rim. The fragrance is woodsy-floral, suggesting tea, rose hips, potpourri, and sandalwood. The palate is astringent, lightly structured and finely articulated, carrying wood-soaked strawberries and balsamic. The finish is cleansing.
I love this wine. It’s light-hearted and delicate yet asserts authority from its profound acidity and tannic backbone. It was a great match for roasted poultry. It is also great as a starter with a mixed cheese and charcuterie course, or with mushroom pastry, cheese straws, melon with Prosciutto. Cleansing enough for gratins but light enough for vegetable casseroles. Incredibly versatile and delicious.
