2017 Limerick Lane Rosé Russian River Valley

Serious, savory, and refreshing rosé

2017 Limerick Lane Cellars Rosé Russian River Valley

Limerick Lane’s 2017 rosé is 62 percent Syrah and 38 percent Grenache sourced from their estate in the Russian River Valley. The fruit was hand-harvested at 21° Brix and whole-cluster pressed at low pressure (less than 1 bar), before cool fermentation in tank. The wine spent three months on lees to acquire body.

The result is a gorgeous light salmon color with orange glints. Its fragrance is a breath of spring berries, rubbed thyme, chamomile, and orange zest. Texturally the wine feels structured, almost serious, with a chestnut-honeyed mid-section lifted by suggestions of peach. But its freshness keeps it clean and shiny, and the finish is lifted by a snap of mint and citrus pith.

This wine is exceptional with aged cheeses (which is not something you can say about most rosés), because it has sufficient savoriness to tie it to the brothy complexities of affinage. It also makes a fine aperitif.
