2018 Domaine Ligier Poulsard Arbois

Ligier’s Poulsard is hand-harvested and spends a year in large vats prior to bottling. It’s a limpid garnet color with a faint orange cast — not evidently from age, because the fragrance is fresh and forthright: cranberry, cedar, oolong tea, sage. The palate is lightweight, astringent and black tea-like rather than robustly structured, with modest red fruit flavors and a finish that feels somewhat angular. It serves as a good counterpart to savory, roasted fare.
