Niner’s flagship red is an estate wine, about 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The fruit was hand harvested and blocks were fermented separately. The blend aged 28 months in French oak barrels, 43% new, before bottling.
It’s woodsy, with notes of cedar, juniper, and juniper berry wafting over ripe black cherries. Its firm tannins add texture and astringency, while a hit of bitter coffee keeps the fruit in check. Well structured with plenty of life ahead.
