The Niner family farms 223 acres in Paso Robles and Edna Valley; they are both LEED and SIP certified. This white blend is about half Marsanne with a balance of Grenache blanc and Roussanne. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and French oak. The wine is blended after 6 months and ages another 16 months in bottle prior to release.
Its aroma suggests russet apple, beeswax, candied lemon peel, and bay leaf. The texture is ample and coating, carrying notes of spiced pear and baked pome fruits, but it also has a lemon-drop freshness and a spike of ginger at the finish. Nicely balanced even though it has substantial alcohol, the fruit and weight balanced by firm acidity.
