Smith-Madrone’s Riesling is grown on vines that are four decades old. The fruit was harvested at a modest 22.5° Brix and fermented in stainless steel. The resulting wine is watery yellow with hallmark Riesling aromatics of paraffin, jasmine, and honeysuckle. The fully dry palate suggests lime marmalade and ginger, and it finishes in a blast of diesel and wet street. Excellent with medium-aged cow’s milk cheeses.
