This Leitz rosé sparkler is a varietal Pinot Noir, but its pretty gold color offers only the faintest tinge of pink, so one would be forgiven for mistaking it for a blanc de noirs. Its bubbles are tiny and even and persistent, spiriting a snappy fragrance of fresh apple and strawberries, bread, and wet rocks. The palate is animated and cleansing, fully dry, suggesting light biscuit with toasted almond. Mostly this wine is about tingly, juicy refreshment—delicious as an aperitif with crispy snacks.

Access to the Leitz wines has become miserable since the Schatzi Wines came into being. It’s sad for me (and especially Laura) since these were some our very favorite wines.
Based on this one, I’d like to try some others.
Well we still have a ton from older vintages. More stuff I need to pour for you.
