One hundred percent Godello, estate grown and sustainably farmed on 60-year-old vines. The wine spent six months on fine lees in stainless steel.
It’s a moony yellow color with a cooling herbal fragrance reminiscent of a grassy apple orchard carpeted with chamomile, tansy, feverfew, and mint. The body offers saturated notes of pear and apple skin, and it’s ripe but not sugary, like the flesh of a Northern Spy apple, dotted with pockets of sweetness but also tart, dry, caky, almost tannic. Despite the sunny yellow fruits the wine’s anchored by a core of minerals. It has a serious, stony heart.
It’s a terrific value. Pair it with light-fleshed fish, raw shellfish, young sheep’s milk cheeses, and crispy fried foods.
