2015 Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris Collio

Tender and fleshy, with a honeysuckle sweetness

2015 Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris Collio DOC

Collio is sandwiched between the Alps and the Adriatic, and the vineyards enjoy continuous downslope breezes, contributing to slow ripening. This mono-varietal Pinot Grigio (hence the name, “Mongris”) was grown in the region’s sandstone, limestone, and clay soils, which are nearly impermeable to water, making the vines struggle for nourishment.

It is an ample wine, more Pinot Gris than Pinot Grigio, redolent of yellow flowers, light honey, and apple skin, plus a distinct honeysuckle vibe. The body is succulent and tender, marked by fleshy white fruits (both pome and drupe). An edge of grassiness keeps it lively.

It’s tasty with white fish, poultry, and young cheeses, especially bloomy and washed rind.
