2015 Domaine Ligier Les Chassagnes Côtes du Jura Rouge

Trousseau redolent of potpourri and spice

2015 Domaine Ligier Les Chassagnes Côtes du Jura Rouge

Ligier holds only two hectares in the Côtes du Jura. This wine is 100 percent Trousseau, raised ten months in oak barrel, and it’s a light, enchanting style. The body is a fey barn red with a peachy glow, and it’s fragrant of dried rose petals and sandalwood with deeper tints of wood and hide. Crystalline acidity bites the mid-palate, while flavors of flowers and spices bloom at the back. Cleansing, but because of acidity, not tannin; this is a juicy wine. Its essence is its aromatics.

Pair with cured meats, roasted fowl, fleshy fish, pasta and risotto, mushrooms — really, almost anything.
