Talbott’s Sleepy Hollow estate vineyard lies on benchland in the Santa Lucia Highlands, about 13 miles south of Monterey. This single-vineyard wine is fruit-forward and heavily spiced, and its strong perfume of old roses, red grapefruit, cinnamon, clove, and allspice makes it feel sweet-seeming, almost confectionary. It finishes with laden heat and bitterness. The Talbott Kali Hart Pinot Noir is a fresher offering, at least this vintage.
