2015 Ramey Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard Petaluma Gap Sonoma Coast

Exuberant Côte-Rôtie style wine from Petaluma Gap

2015 Ramey Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard Petaluma Gap Sonoma Coast

The Rodgers Creek Vineyard was planted to David Ramey’s specifications in 2002 (more on that in this post). The 2015 vintage contains about 8 percent Viognier, and the wine aged 25 months sur lie in mostly new French oak barrels.

It is fragrant of black bramble fruit, black cherry, and apricot, but also bacon and violets. The palate is rambunctious, a riot of red and blue fruits, savoriness, meat, and hide, and the finishing note is dominated by the Viognier.

It’s a wine made for aging, as the 2013 demonstrates, even if that wine, too, is still quite young.
