The result is dark ruby red with a clear rim, and the fragrance is quiet, suggesting black cherries steeped with juniper berry with a woodsy touch of sandalwood and cedar. The palate delivers a potent pop of red fruits, while firm tannins and a blaze of acidity round out the finish. More realized than Poliziano’s Lohsa Morellino, more elaborate and detailed, but still somewhat young. Age it for a couple more years and enjoy with rich meats or aged cheese.
