2020 Kir-Yianni Xinomavro Rosé L’Esprit du Lac Vieilles Vignes Amyndeon

2020 Kir-Yianni Xinomavro Rosé L'Esprit du Lac Vieilles Vignes Amyndeon PDO

Kir-Yianni’s rosé is made from Xinomavro grown on 60-year-old vines in Amyndeon, in northwestern Greece, where soils are poor and sandy. This is a saignée from the winery’s Kali Riza red, vinified with cultured yeasts. The wine aged sur lie with bâtonnage for three months in stainless steel prior to bottling.

It’s a salmon pink color and perfumed of peaches, apricots, and lemon peel. It’s substantial on the palate, due to both the bâtonnage and the grape’s native structure. It has flavors of stone fruit and a pleasant leafy bitterness, which gives it gravitas. It’s a lovely rosé for the price.
