Chidaine’s charming rosé is a blend of Grolleau, Pinot noir, and Gamay. Its robe is deep strawberry pink — it looks like Tavel — and it yields a quiet fragrance of beach rose and cranberry. The palate has substantial heft, more than most rosé, although that’s not unexpected from a rosé this dark. The flavors offer a lilt of freshness (mint, tart strawberry, peach), along with a chewy midsection that delivers a sense of dried fruits and flowers. Firm acidity lifts up the finish. It’s a lovely wine for richer, more savory summer fare.
