2019 Quinta dos Carvalhais Encruzado Dão

2019 Quinta dos Carvalhais Encruzado Dão

Quinta dos Carvalhais’s branco is made from 100 percent Encruzado, a white grape native to Portugal. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel. Midway through fermentation, a portion was transferred to new French oak barrels for completion and six months of aging. The results were blended and bottled.

Its aromatics are a breezy blend of laurel and salt, Meyer lemon, straw, and almond. The texture is weighty, creamy from the oak aging, and the flavors deliver a sense of ripe lemon and white flowers. The finish is long and unctuous but with balancing acidity.

This is a Portuguese bottle for people who love rich white wines. It’s an outstanding value.
