2018 Priest Ranch Grenache Blanc Napa Valley

Autumnal white from Napa Valley

2018 Priest Ranch Grenache Blanc Napa Valley

Priest Ranch’s monovarietal Grenache blanc is an estate wine grown in their Somerston Vineyard at 1,250 feet elevation. The fruit fermented with ambient yeasts, cold, in stainless steel barrels and tank, and aged eight months on lees, with bâtonnage, prior to bottling. The aromatics are soft, autumnal, suggesting pears and sweetgrass, and the palate offers modest acidity and flavors of tree fruits like yellow apple and pear. It finishes in a sense of pear nectar and dried ginger. It’s a good wine for roasted squash, game birds, rosy pork, pilafs with raisins and pine nuts. Don’t serve it too cold.
