2012 Carlos Serres Rioja Crianza DOC

Great weeknight staple, terrific with country fare

2012 Carlos Serres Rioja Crianza DOC
An effortless Rioja Crianza with all of the hallmarks of the style: fruity, woodsy, youthful, fresh, great with simple foods. The robe is red with a transparent edge, and the aromas mix black cherries with cedar. Light-bodied, it’s more about fruit than structure, although the back palate has a pleasant resinous catch, and the tannins sneak up on you over time. The acidity is solid.

It’s naturally superlative with tapas, paella, chorizo, Manchego, fried sardines—foods of the Spanish country table.
