2014 Anthony Road Red Blend Devonian Finger Lakes

“Fragrant, fine-boned...”

2014 Anthony Road Wine Company Red Blend Devonian Finger Lakes

The robe is pale garnet red, nearly transparent, with a fragrance of fresh fruits decorated with field-herbs, dried fruits, potpourri. The palate reads as rosy—rose petals, rose hips, rose garland, rose leaf—adding flavors of strawberries and raspberries steeped in lemon rind and thyme.

It’s a blend of 86 percent Cabernet Franc and 14 percent Lemberger, grown in sedimentary soils that date to the Devonian geologic period (hence the name). Crystalline and attenuated, thin but not reedy, it’s more simply fine, or maybe fine-boned.

Plus: Limpid, high-toned, food-loving, low alcohol, interesting, delicious, and incredibly well priced.
