Lang and Reed: Hard and Soft

Lang-reed-sm

Lang & Reed
North Coast Cabernet Franc
2007

This wine is deep purplish red, like a liquid ruby. It's full on the nose, offering bramble fruits, chocolate, spice, and black tea. It teases with a big promise, but is much more demure once inside, where the fruits are more nuanced, and its supple tannins yield to a long, languorous finish. Restrained, wily, and elusive: it's like a Cab on the nose and a Merlot on the palate. Nice, if a little furtive.
