French term for a micro winery: literally, “a person who makes wine in the garage.” (The Italians say garagista.) A colloquial term, it’s not rigidly defined; a garagiste may be a single person making a few dozen cases or a small crew making several barrels. But the general implication is that the production volume is small — only what a few hands and hearts can generate each vintage.
