2015 Carlos Serres Old Vines Rioja

Fruity refreshment grown on old vines

2015 Carlos Serres Old Vines Rioja DOCa

Uncomplicated and fruity, this varietal Tempranillo was grown on vines that are more than 50 years old. It’s youthful looking, brilliant red, and the body is bright with a pop of cherries and cracked pepper. Somewhat aggressive tannins make it feel muscular at the finish.

A solid wine for $10. Pair with peppery cured meats, aged sheep’s milk cheeses, a scattering roasted almonds.

13% abv | $10 (sample) Imported by Winesellers, Ltd.

    Wow. $10!

I had not heard of this winery, but was favorably intrigued by several of your notes.
