2013 Domaine de Dionysos La Devèze Côtes du Rhône

“Plum-fruit inflected, with a peppery minty-garrigue finish.”

2013 Domaine de Dionysos La Devèze Côtes du Rhône
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan from 30-year-old vines anchored in sandy clay. The vineyards lie just north of the village of Orange and are certified organic. Winemaking proceeds in concrete tank with ambient yeast, and some lots see a kiss of oak aging.

The consulting winemaker is Philippe Cambie, and the wine reflects his sensibility. It’s supple and plum-fruit inflected, with fine-grained tannins and a peppery minty-garrigue finish. It’s pleasant—not important, but a fine partner for casual fare.
