This wine is principally Sangiovese with a touch of blending grapes, and it is made only in exceptional years, sourced from fruit grown in Castellina in Chianti. The 2014 is now deep red with tawny glints and a brickish rim. It’s fragrant of cedar, juniper leaf, black cherries, old wardrobe. The texture is smooth and even, with firm acidity and flavors of red cherries steeped in tea. The astringency bites at the finish. Fully ready, with well integrated secondary and tertiary notes, drink now or hold for a few more years.
