2017 Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris Collio

Ripe and friendly Pinot Grigio

2017 Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris Collio

Collio is a bumpy landscape sandwiched between the Alps and the Adriatic. This Pinot Grigio was handpicked and cold macerated, then fermented in stainless steel with temperature control to preserve delicate aromatics.

Still, it’s a big wine, ample and friendly but elevated by piquant acidity. The flavors skew toward quince and yellow pome fruits, with suggestions of tropical passion fruit and papaya. A streak of stony salt divides the mid-section.

It’s a good aperitif to serve with crispy snacks and a wide array of young and medium-aged cheeses. It’s also terrific with lighter meats, poultry, and fish. Vegetarians should try it with fruit- and nut-studded pilafs, or curries keynoted by cardamom, turmeric, and ginger.
