This varietal Teroldego was fermented in stainless then raised in barrique for two years, followed by one year in oak cask and another in bottle prior to release.
Its robe is an inky black ruby color, nearly opaque but with red glints, and the aromas yield concentrated black plums, blackberries, cassis, and bitter chocolate. There’s also abundant vanilla and oaky spice, and the body is heavily structured, buttressed by the grape’s native tannins, although the fruit feels more red than black. Still, the chocolate influence carries forward, and the wine finishes in a wave of woodsy, tobacco-cocoa bark and cassis.
A chewy, fruity wine to please those who like a concentrated style.
