Insouciant

Brancott
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
2006

I always wanted to get away with describing a wine as "insouciant." It's one of those preposterous words used in spoof wine reviews to make fun of preposterous wine reviewers. And yet, after half a glass of this slightly frizzante white from New Zealand, that's exactly the word that popped into my head. Not without irony, but still…

This wine has got basically everything going on: fruit, acid, structure. It's got citrus, green apple, and grass in there somewhere, too. It smells great and tastes great, all by itself and with food. For twelve bucks, you can't beat it.

Price: $12
