2016 FEL Chardonnay Anderson Valley

Light-textured Chardonnay sparkled with herbs

2016 FEL Chardonnay Anderson Valley

This Chardonnay is grown in FEL’s estate Savoy Vineyard with supplemental fruit from Ferrington Vineyard. Grapes were harvested at 22.5° Brix and whole-cluster pressed into tank for settling. Fermentation took place in neutral French oak barrels with limited malolactic, and the wine barrel-aged with lees stirring for nine months.

The body is pale gold, and the aromatics are stony with a tint of grass and honeydew. It has the texture of light silk, with a succulent mid-section edged in bitter herbs and field flowers. The fruit reads like white peaches soaked in green tea, and the finish is long and likewise herbal.

Pair it with herb-dusted light-fleshed fish, seafood risotto, or quinoa tossed with dried fruits and nuts, or with milky or medium-aged cheeses.
