NV Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut Champagne

Sharp pink berries mingling with brioche and bread

NV Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut Champagne

This rosé Champagne is one hundred percent Pinot Noir grown in twelve crus, mostly in Montagne de Reims and including the grand crus of Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois, and Tours-sur-Marne. The wine ages at least four years prior to disgorgement and release.

It’s body is a glistering salmon color with a quiet but persistent perlage. The bead spirits notes of nut and crusty baguette that mingle with snappy strawberries and citrus, like the tartest jam on bread. The texture is foamy and fizzes into a creamy mousse of white mushroom, hazelnut, brioche, and bread. Dominant, though, is its sense of copious sharp pink fruits attenuating toward the finish, which is lime juice tart.

A cleansing aperitif and accompaniment to rich canapés, gougères, young cheeses, and smoked fish.

L-P Rosé has always been a solid wine, but when they jacked the price they lost me. Billecart made the same mistake with their Rosé. I have recently seen much lower prices on both, but after discovering so many lovely small grower wines I have not looked back. Now I only have them at tastings or when someone else brings a bottle.
