2013 Rombauer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

“Promising...”

2013 Rombauer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

A wine dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon but with a little Petit Verdot, Cab Franc, and Merlot blended in for balance. The fruit hails from some tony neighborhoods, including estate and partner vineyards in Stags Leap, Atlas Peak, Mt. Feeder, St. Helena, and Howell Mountain.

The robe is deep garnet with rubescent glints and emits a fragrance like the deep woods: pine, juniper, wet earth, cedar, sweet tobacco. The body reads like tea-steeped black cherries and red currants, and its drying tannins finish with a flare of mint and menthol.

A Cab with great stuffing—too young now, but a couple of years in the bottle will polish it to a luster.
