2012 Jordan Vineyard and Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, Sonoma County
A Cabernet Sauvignon with a soupçon of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec to add dimension and nuance. It’s a bright ruby color with a fragrance of rosemary-steeped cherries, balsamic strawberries. The body is juicy and fresh, with mint and juniper, cherries and oregano. The herbal notes are prominent and welcome, and while the tannins are soft, the acid feels cleansing. I love that this wine clocks in under 14% alcohol, allowing fruit and herbs and earth stand forward. It’s elegant, lustrous, sleek; age will enhance its complexity.
