Acorn Zin on a Friday Night

Acorn
Alegría Vineyards Zinfandel "Heritage Vines"
2005

This wine is deep ruby, with a very interesting nose. It starts light, like blueberry, or maybe just the anticipation of blueberry, then opens into warm earth and chocolate. On the palate there's cherry, current, and, yes, blueberry. It finishes a little hard, with lots of tannin and a bit of pine.

It's not very Zin-y, and also, mercifully, not hot like other Zins. It's a hard wine to rate, since there's so much happening all over. Interesting and fun.

Price: $35
